EP Synthetic Gear Lubricant
Product Data
Description
Enersyn EPX™ 220, 320, 460 & 680 are fully synthetic industrial gear lubricants, blended from a polyalphaolefin [PAO]
based fluid and a carefully balanced additive package, incorporating rust, oxidation and extreme pressure additives. A
very low friction coefficient combined with high viscosity index reduces energy losses due to drag, to provide lower gear
box operating temperatures, whilst maintain good viscosity for film strength.
Enersyn EPX 220, 320, 460 & 680 can be used over a wide operational temperature range (-300C to 1200C) and provide
superior performance in heavily loaded or shock-loaded gears and bearing applications where severe duty conditions
necessitate extreme pressure performance as a service requirement.
Enersyn EPX 460 meets the requirements of Liebherr LBC-1.
Enersyn EPX 680 has been approved for trial in GE electric wheel motors, and is approved for use in Siemens electric
wheel motors.
Application
Enersyn EPX 220, 320, 460 & 680 have been formulated for use in all types of enclosed gears, including heavy duty
systems, requiring extreme pressure performance. Enersyn EPX 680 has global OEM approval for GE Wheel Motors
wherever GE designation D50E27E lubricants are specified
NOTE: On extended exposure to light this product will darken in colour however this change does not affect lubricant
performance.
Main Performance Features
 Extreme pressure properties and load carrying characteristics for reduced wear even when gears are heavily loaded
or subjected to shock loads
 Good oxidation stability ensures longer service life
 Compatible with metals used in gear boxes, such as steel and bronze
 Extremely wide operational temperature range
 Unlike ester or glycol based fluids Enersyn EPX 220, 320 & 680 exhibit good compatibility with mineral lubricants and
the seals and paints used in mineral oil systems
 Unlike ester or glycol-based synthetics additional costs are not incurred when changing from mineral based lubricants
to Enersyn EPX 220, 320, 460 & 680
 Reduced operating temperatures due to low friction coefficient which promotes reduced energy consumption
 Very good air release properties
Storage
All packages should be stored under cover. Where outside storage is unavoidable drums should be laid horizontally to
avoid the possible ingress of water and the obliteration of drum markings. Products should not be stored above 60°C,
exposed to hot sun or freezing conditions.

Additional Information
Enersyn EPX 220, 320, 460 & 680 are classified as non hazardous according to the criteria of ASCC. However, in line
with safe handling practices, it is recommended that the handling instructions outlined in the Castrol Material Safety Data
Sheet be followed.
Enersyn EPX 220, 320, 460 & 680 are classified as a C2 combustible liquid for storage and handling purposes. Store in a
cool, dry, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Avoid sparks, flames and other ignition sources. Store away from
incompatible materials such as materials that support combustion (oxidising materials). Reference should be made to
Australian Standard AS1940 - The storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids.
Spillage: SMALL - 20 LITRES OR LESS
Soak up on Castrol Diatomaceous Earth or similar inert oil absorbent. Arrange for disposal through an
approved facility.
